Is this cake price fair?
Prices checked
Short answer
Enter the price you were quoted to see how it compares.
Example: is GH₵450 fair for a 6-inch, two-layer cake?
In October 2026, 11 comparable prices for 6-inch 2-layer birthday cakes ran from GH₵280 to GH₵520, with a middle price of GH₵380. A quote of GH₵450 is higher than 91% of them.
Verdict: that's on the high side. Higher than most prices we've seen, but within the range. Detailed designs, fondant work, premium flavours or delivery can explain it. Ask what's included, or compare with another quote.
How does the check work?
We start with every price for the same type of cake, then narrow it to the same size, number of layers and city, but only while there are still at least four prices to compare. If there aren't enough prices in your city, for example, we compare with all of Ghana and say so.
A quote in the cheapest quarter of prices counts as low, the middle half as fair, and the dearest quarter as high. Anything above the highest price we've seen is flagged so you can ask why.
Before you pay
How do you order a cake safely in Ghana?
Check they're real. Look for an active page with tagged photos from customers, not just pictures that could be copied from elsewhere. Ask for a pickup location.
Agree the details in writing. Size in inches, layers, flavour, icing (whipped cream, buttercream or fondant), colours, message and the date and time, in one WhatsApp message.
Pay a deposit, not the full price. Most bakers ask for part of the price up front to start baking. Pay to a MoMo account in the business's name and keep the receipt.
Ask what delivery costs. Delivery is usually extra and charged by distance. Agree who is responsible if the cake is damaged on the way.
Order early for busy dates. Weekends, Valentine's, Mother's Day and December book up first, and rush orders often cost more.
Be wary of very low prices. A price far below what others charge for the same size can mean a smaller cake, cheaper ingredients or a scam. Compare with our price index.

Questions people ask
How do I know if a cake price is fair in Ghana?
Compare it with what other bakers charge for the same size, number of layers and icing. This tool does that using real prices from Ghanaian bakers' websites, price lists and Jiji listings, and tells you whether your quote is low, in the middle or high.
Why is my quote higher than the prices here?
Detailed designs, fondant figures, fresh flowers, premium flavours like red velvet, delivery and short notice all add to the price. Most listed prices are for simpler designs, so ask the baker what's included before comparing.
Is a very cheap cake a bad sign?
Not always, but check it. A price far below everyone else's can mean a smaller or single-layer cake, whipped cream instead of buttercream, or a scam page. Confirm the size and layers in writing and pay only a deposit.
Where do the prices come from?
