How we make money
Last updated
CakeLand is free for anyone buying a cake. Bakers may pay us in some or all of these ways:
- Introduction fees when we pass a baker a quote request from someone who asked for quotes.
- Featured listings, which are always labelled as featured or sponsored.
What money can't buy
- A place in our price index or a change to a price. Prices are what bakers listed publicly, with the source linked.
- A listing in the directory, or removal of a competitor. The directory is free and listed A to Z.
- Your details, unless you asked for quotes and ticked the box agreeing to share them with up to three bakers.
What a listing means
A baker being listed means we found them selling cakes publicly with working contact details. It doesn't mean we've tasted their cakes or checked their kitchen. Look at their recent work and reviews, agree the details in writing and pay only a deposit up front.
