What does a good cake order include?
Bakers quote fastest when they know the size, layers and icing, because those set most of the price. Add the flavour, colours and the exact words for the cake, spelled the way you want them. Say the date, time and whether you're collecting or need delivery, and to which area.
Ask for three things back: the full price, the deposit they need, and the last day you can confirm. Pay the deposit only to an account in the business's name, and keep the conversation as your receipt.

What should I tell a baker when ordering a cake?
The occasion, the type of cake, size in inches and number of layers (or how many people it's for), flavour, icing (whipped cream, buttercream or fondant), colours or theme, the exact message, the date and time, and whether you'll pick it up or need delivery. A photo of a design you like helps too.
